Animal Ambassador
My name is Tasha Thomas and I was born and raised in Miami, Florida to Costa Rican parents of Jamaican decent. As a child it was extremely difficult to explain parents that spoke Spanish as their first language, looked African American, and spoke English with a heavy Jamaican dialect. Since the age of four, I spent countless summers on my grandparent’s farm in Matina, Costa Rica. This is where my love of animals began.
This love of animals translated into a career in animal science. I graduated from Tuskegee University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal & Poultry Science and a minor in Biology.

Throughout my career I have been in informal and formal leadership roles. My first formal leadership role was as a Manager II at the University of Miami for four years. During my tenure I earned a Master of Science degree in Management with a concentration on Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. I then accepted a position as Project Manager for a non-profit research institute for another four years. I was then promoted to Operations Specialist and a position created for me as a Business Development & Marketing Specialist.
